Week notes Autumn 2026
Newest at the top.
2nd-Oct-2026
I have totally stolen the week notes idea from Tom Watson (though having since googled, it's originally a Matt Webb thing all the way from 2009, pre-history by Matt here, and pleasingly non-fashionable these days).
I'm going to try it for four weeks and see if it works for my gadfly brain. I like the idea, but let's see how the do actually does.
People have suggested a lot of weeknote templates. I'm going to try these headings (that an LLM came up with after a chat about the aforementioned gadlfy brain):
- Did / learned (don't think those two should have their own headings)
- Next
- Stuck on
Feel like I should add a fourth heading, something like "empty howl into the void" or "thoughts while sitting in pants eating pringles". A heading to provide space for absolute, mind-numbing vacuity of no instrumental worth whatsoever. Let's see.
That may end up feeling a bit too much like being at school, but I like the idea of having some structure to it. Let's see. Err.
Did / learned
Chats!
I've had three chats, each of which in different ways has pushed me further into 'getting underneath the data' thinking. It's an old thought going back to Sheffield Data for Good days, when a youth homelessness charity bought data they understand but couldn't process; we could process but only interpret with their intelligence.
As I said here on LinkedIn

This is maybe getting too write-y write-y? Is it working for me? Dunno. Might need different structure just for me. I can then write up a month later. Err.
